For the uninitiated Sale Arts Trail was born in early 2014 over many cups of tea and biscuits by three artists with the same vision and that was to create an arts event in Sale.
The idea
To create an open studio trail event and create a map for people to use on the trail.
The trail took started Friday 11th – Sunday 13th July with the preview evening being held on Friday 11th at the Waterside Arts Centre and the trail taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
The artists
The trail showcased the work of mainly Trafford artists and makers with invited artists from nearby areas. The trail had a rich variety of work including art, photography, stone carving, painting, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and much more.
The studios
There is an abundance of creative’s hiding away in their studios in Sale of which we approached about opening up to the public for the event.
Open studios included Sarah Malone Ceramics, Tim and Sue Dunbars Studio, Alasdair Nelson Ceramics, Gordon Cooke and Ian Chapmans Studio and garden, Sophie Nixon Garden Studio and Anne Earnshaw Studio and garden.
Local Business
It was important to work with small independent businesses and include them on the trail. Local businesses included in the trail were Serendipitea, Minikin, Coasters and The Bean and Brush art cafe.
Sale Waterside
Sale is extremely fortunate to have a local Arts Centre such as Waterside Arts Centre and Sale Arts Trail were delighted when they agreed to be part of the event.
The exhibition curated for Waterside Arts Centre showcased work from every artist participating in the trail and also provided a venue for a fabulous preview night and an extended exhibition to view the work.
Also at Sale Arts Trail preview evening were Fabulous buffets provided by the lovely Delfina, an artists talk on the Sunday by David Gledhill and to finish the trail on the Sunday afternoon there was a classical music jam by Sallow Tree Concerts at The Kings Ransom.
The whole weekend was a huge success proving that Sale has an appetite for this kind of event and for supporting local artists by participating in the trail and buying work from the artists.
Sale Arts Trail will be taking place again next Summer so watch this space! Sale Arts Trail will also have smaller pop up events throughout the year including the Christmas Bazaar coming very soon!! More details to follow this post!
