Tell us about yourself
Eve Redmond, contemporary jeweller. I’m based in Manchester Craft & Design Centre, Divinity Studio 1st Floor. I’m originally from Ireland and came to Manchester to study jewellery design. I then went to London to do my degree at and returned to Manchester, as it’s a fantastic city to live in.
Were you involved in Sale Arts Trail last year? Describe how you were involved. How did you get involved?
I exhibited & sold my jewellery on the trail last year at Coasters Café. Bob the owner was fantastically accommodating and I know he got some new business from the trail too. It was a great venue as I was able to buy my lunch there and sample some of his amazing cakes. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase my work to a new audience. I had many of my regular customers come to the trail too; it was great exposure for all the artists on the trail. Some of the new customers from the trail have since come to my studio in Manchester Craft & Design Centre.
Did you attend the preview at Sale Waterside Arts Centre?
Yes it was a fantastic preview, the place was buzzing and it looked fantastic. I had never been to such a packed opening at the Waterside Arts Centre. It’s an amazing venue.
What was the best part of the trail?
The best part of the Trail for me was exhibiting locally and reaching a new audience right on my doorstep. I loved the fact that it took me five minutes to get there! For makers/artists doing Fairs & Exhibitions the hard bit is leaving your home/family for a few days and having the expense of staying in hotels/b’nb’s and dining out. It was fantastic to have a local event for such an appreciative local audience.
If you exhibited what was the word on the street from customers about the trail?
Local people didn’t realise there was such creative talent in Sale and were delighted to have such an event on their doorstep. They were most impressed and looking forward to next year too and spreading the word.
What would you like to see at this years trail?
Organised tours of the trail.
More guest speakers.
Someone prestigious opening the preview exhibition at the Waterside, enticing even more people from the greater Manchester area to attend!
