A word from Liz Ackerley from Urban Sketchers
Urban Sketchers (www.urbansketchers.org) is a nonprofit worldwide organization dedicated to raising the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. Urban sketchers activity is defined through a manifesto as follows: Drawing is done on location, inside or out capturing what we see from direct observation. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel. Our drawings are a record of time and place. We are truthful to the scenes we witness. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles. We support each other and draw together. We share our drawings online. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
Manchester Urban Sketchers (@MCR_UrbanSketch) was founded by Simone Ridyard and has sketching meet ups every few weeks. We draw in and around Greater Manchester and post our drawings on line. This year a group of Manchester Urban Sketchers, coordinated by Liz Ackerley are pleased to visit the Sale Arts Trail on Sunday 10th July. We will be drawing in and around the venues, sharing our drawings on our Manchester Urban Sketchers Facebook group and on social media. Thank you so much for the invitation!
