Who are you and what do you do?

Hello my name is Barbara Chadwick and I am a potter, I mostly make hand made.

Tell us all about what you do? Materials? Processes?


I make Birds in different clays, a rough clay and porcelain to give different effects
The rough or grogged clay I use to make birds which I will Raku in the garden and involves moving the birds from a very hot kiln into sawdust in a dustbin. I also make birds in porcelain clay which I carve into and add colour then glaze and high fire.
I also hand make porcelain globes in three different colours and different sizes.

Describe in 10 words a typical day in your studio

Wedge clay, make forms , join forms refine shapes into birds.

Are you working on anything unusual at the moment?

Nothing at present.

What will you be selling at the Artist Takeover ?

Birds with different types of glazing techniques on drift wood and Porcelain Globes
