Who are and what do you do?
I’m Harriet Orrey-Godden. I make monsters, puppets and soft sculptures. I also draw and paint faces and people.

What 5 words best describe your work?
Silly, weird, colourful, imaginative, storytelling

Do you have any design heroes?
Not necassarily designers, but I have a lot of artist heroes including Louise Bourgoiuse, Gregory Jacobsen, Egon Schiele, Hannah Hoch and the artist collective Gelitin. I’m also inspired by film directors Terry Gilliam, David Lynch and the Coen brothers.

Where is your studio? Location? In a shared studio?
My studio is in the attic of my house in Manchester, it’s all mine and I love it.

Describe in 10 words a typical day in your studio
Cups of tea, radio, drawing, thinking, sewing, posting orders, yoga.

Are you working on anything unusual at the moment? Commissions? New work?
Yes, I’m making 600 theraputic dolls for the Australian Childhood Foundation. I’ve been working on these for a year now, and shipping them to Australia every month!

What will you be selling at the Christmas Bazaar?
Soft monsters large and small, goblins in pants, pocket worms, long lumps, sausage dogs, poo pins and greetings cards

What would be your job if you weren’t doing what you do now?
There’s lots of things I’d like to be….celebrity chef, human rights lawyer, farmer, perpetual traveller!

Tell us something we don’t know
When I was little I found a dead dried frog skeleton in the garden, so I kept him in a matchbox and called him Sid.
