Q&A Ceramicist Barbara Chadwick

What is your practice? Materials? Processes?

I make handmade pots which I turn into Birds, working with Grogged clay and Porcelain clay. I use the pinch pot method, joining them together making an egg shape, then working them into Birds.

Some are fired by the Raku method, which takes the pots from a very, very hot kiln placing it in sawdust giving me the lovely colours that you get with Raku. The Porcelain Birds I make I carve into them then add colour and glaze in an electric kiln.
